Attached is the News Bulletin for next week. I have also added lots of infor the upcoming weeks regarding, cheerleading, color guard, senior tributes and another reminder regarding the schedule for Friday, February 7th. Have a great weekend! *** PLEASE NOTE: If you have a student that is absent due to sickness or for appointments, please remember to ask for a doctor's note so we can ensure that our records are accurate. A doctor's note allows us to record an absence as extenuated rather than excused. Drs notes definitely help with the extended absences we are seeing due to illness currently. *** Don't forget the upcoming "Try-It Session" for Color Guard here at the High School. It is open to all 8th graders through 11th to come see what Color Guard in Marching Band is all about. Dates and times are included on the flyer below. *** Senior parents - the year is going by quickly! You've still got plenty of time to place a senior recognition ad in the yearbook. This is a great way to tell them how proud you are and wish them well in the future! See the flyer below for more details. *** Here is a link to our Pink Out T Shirts for this year. This is an amazing night for our kids and community on Friday, February 14th this year as we host McPherson in Jim Baker Field house. The Varsity Girls game begins at 6:00 PM and the Boys will follow at 7:30. Proceeds from this event benefit Reno County Cancer Council, and please forward to anyone that would be interested. T-Shirts will be delivered to BHS by February 13th, and I will send those on the Pony to any in district purchases made. Thank you, John Darrow 2025 Spring Trap Shooting League Registration opens February 4th. If you are interested in shooting this spring, please see Laurie Willison in the main office or watch for a USA High School Clay Target League registration email coming soon.

They set a vision for our schools, hire and evaluate the superintendent, adopt policies, oversee district finances, and collaborate with the community to enhance student achievement. Please take a moment to thank our current Board members: Back row: Chris Shank, Greg Lackey, Dr. Tim Lackey, Monte Cross Front row: Dr. Michael Green, Jessica Goering, Laura Meyer Dick Buhler Schools have been built on the service and dedication of our present and past BOE members. Good Evening, We are expecting wind chills of -15 degrees at 8:00 tomorrow morning. By 10:00, it is expected to be about -5 degrees. When considering a delay due to cold weather, I weigh out many situations, vehicles starting, buses starting, students at bus stops, students walking and our staff who have to stand out in the cold for 30 minutes doing student drop off lanes. I am confident our buses will start but I would prefer not to have students and staff outside in this bitter cold. Due to the forecast of dangerous wind chills tomorrow, Buhler USD #313 will be on a two hour delay Tuesday, January 21st. With the 2 hour late start, the following will be implemented: *No morning PreK *No breakfasts will be served *Shining Stars will be open 2 hours late *All start times will shift back two hours: BGS 9:50 UV/PCE 10:10 PHMS 9:45 BHS 10:00 AdAstra Alternative 10:00 High school students will report directly to 1st hour Middle school students will report directly to 1st hour Buhler Beginnings Daycare and Crusader Corner Daycare will open and operate with normal hours. We were lucky to be able to recognize Buhler High School Vocational Ag teacher, Rylie Sanders, as a Horizon Award winner for our region last week! Mrs. Sanders was nominated last fall and completed an application, which included narratives and references from colleagues and supervisors. Her application was one of only four secondary nominations recognized for Region 1. Congratulations Mrs. Sanders! This is well deserved and we are proud of you! #Bexceptional

A great opportunity for our community is being offered January 17-18 in Hutchinson. A free dental clinic offering fillings, screenings, and cleanings. No appointment necessary but children ages 1 to 13 are granted the special privilege to schedule an “arrival time” at the KMOM free dental clinic with a pediatric specialist. This "arrival time" does not guarantee that they will be seen at that exact time, but it will limit their waiting time for treatment. Appointments are limited. Buhler Staff and Families,  After driving the roads on all sides of the district this evening, the south side of our district is definitely seeing some bad road conditions.  The roads everywhere are becoming not only snow packed but very slick.  Due to road conditions, Buhler Schools will not have school on Friday, January 10th.  A decision on practices will be made by 12:00 tomorrow and communicated through your student’s coaches.   The daycares, Buhler Beginnings and Crusader Corner, will be open with normal hours.   I know this has been a frustrating week for staff, students, and families.  The safety of staff and students continues to remain at the forefront when making these difficult decisions.  Have a good weekend. No School Friday, January 10th
Buhler Staff and Families, The roads to Buhler (Medora and 30th) are still not great.  If you haven’t traveled them and have a teenage driver doing so tomorrow, please see the attached picture of the Medora Road.  The “S” curves are in the shade and even more slick than ever. PLEASE take 30th into Buhler.  If you live on the north side of Hutchinson, I recommend taking highway 61 to Inman and coming into Buhler from the north.  To allow drivers more time to get to school and for the sun to give us better visibility, Buhler Schools will be on a 2 hour delay Thursday, January 9th.  Review with young drivers to travel SLOWLY, allow space between cars, be careful on overpasses and be aware of roads in the shade. With the 2 hour late start, the following will be implemented: No morning PreK No breakfasts will be served Shining Stars will be open 2 hours late Bus pick up times will be 2 hours late All start times will shift back two hours: BGS 9:50 UV/PCE 10:10 PHMS 9:45 BHS 10:00 AdAstra Alternative 10:00 High school students will report directly to 1st hour Middle school students will report directly to 1st hour Buhler Beginnings Daycare and Crusader Corner Daycare will open and operate with normal hours. Please be sure to wear shoes that provide traction. Our sidewalks (especially those on the north side) are still slick so be careful getting out of your car and walk like a penguin!  Cindy Couchman, Superintendent Buhler USD #313

Buhler Staff and Families,  Some decisions on cancelling school are clear and obvious - tonight’s decision is not quite so clear.  After driving many roads, I am still not comfortable with having high school students driving the roads to Buhler.  This is a long way of saying: *Buhler Schools will not have school on Wednesday, January 8th. *Our daycares, Buhler Beginnings and Crusader Corner, will be open with normal hours.   *Again, a decision on practices will be made by 12:00 tomorrow and communicated through your student’s coaches.   Today’s shout out still includes our maintenance folks but I would also like to thank Reno County Roads Dept for checking the Medora Road and putting more sand on it. I think it will be critical in helping the road clear more by Thursday.   If you or your kids are getting cabin fever and need something to do, feel free to come clear off our playground blacktops!  I bet our elementary teachers will be thankful to have outdoor recess when they return! See you all on Thursday! Cindy Couchman, Superintendent Buhler USD #313

Buhler Staff and Families, Due to the road conditions, Buhler Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 7th. All scheduled events are also cancelled. A decision on practices will be made by 12:00 Tuesday. The two daycares, Crusader Corner and Buhler Beginnings, will be open Tuesday with normal hours. Our maintenance workers have worked in the cold all day to clear lots and sidewalks. A big thank you to Steve Armbrust, Isaac Broeckelman, Randall Schultz and our folks who stepped in and helped today: Seth Gould, James Metzger, Ian Metzger, and Thomas Montano. Hopefully tomorrow road conditions will improve as we look forward to having everyone back after a long break. Cindy Couchman, Superintendent Buhler USD #313

Because of the severity of road conditions, our daycares, Buhler Beginnings and Crusader Corner, will also be closed Monday, January 6th.
